The Smartphones As Essential Tools for Internet Access

The consumers are beginning to use their Smartphones for accomplishment of more complicated everyday tasks. According to a study conducted by Pew Research, a quarter of U.S. Smartphone owners use them, mainly to secure access to the Internet. The study interviewed 2,777 Americans and 83% of them claimed to have a cell phone and 42% of them-a Smartphone. Surprisingly, 28% of the participants in the research declared that they use their Smartphones for fast and smooth the Web surfing. Rather than rely on computers to access the global network, they used for this purpose mostly their Smartphones. Twenty-five percent of the respondents shared that they prefer to use the Smartphone as a primary means of Internet access than a laptop or desktop computer.
The conclusions from the study revealed that 35% of Smartphone owners in USA had Android device, 24% of them had an iPhone or BlackBerry mobile phone. The study also showed that the smartphone Internet is mostly popular among people between 20 and 45 years, and especially among highly educated ones. Half of those, who worked full-time, had a Smartphone, but mainly those people, who were freelancers or worked part-time. The Consumers, who owned Smartphones, usually had other digital devices such as notebook PC, music player or tablet.
According to the company ComScore Network, the Europeans outperformed significantly the Americans in using their mobile phones to surf the Internet. According to their survey, 29% of European Internet users regularly used their Smartphones to access the Internet. At the same time, only 19% of Americans used their phones to access the Web. The survey included six countries – USA, France, Germany, Italy and Great Britain. The highest level of usage of mobile Internet was reached by the inhabitants of Germany and Italy (34%); followed by France with 28%; Spain with 26%, and England with 24%. It turned out that the most popular brand cell phones in five of these six countries were Nokia with its Symbian operating system. In USA, the most-used devices to connect the Internet were Android, iPhones, BlackBerry and Motorola.
